Environmental Policy

Our Commitment

At Colbier Brewery, we are dedicated to brewing exceptional beers while continually improving our practices and equipment to minimise our impact on the environment. Through innovative practices, collaborations and research, we aim to help build a more sustainable future for our industry and community.

Our Sustainability Practices

Reducing Carbon Footprint

  • Collaborative research: Partnering with John Moores University to implement cutting-edge strategies for reducing our carbon emissions.
  • Efficient logistics: Using porterage services for beer distribution outside of Merseyside, ensuring that transport logistics are optimised to reduce our emissions.

Sustainable Packaging and Production

  • Reusable systems: Employing a state-of-the-art keg and cask washer to significantly reduce the need for single-use plastics and disposable containers.
  • On-site packaging: With our own canning line, we package all our beers on site to minimise waste and control the packaging quality of our finished products. This also reduces our carbon emissions in eliminating the need to send our products elsewhere to be packaged and thereby limiting transport requirements as much as possible.

Circular Waste Management

  • Spent grain donation: Donating used grain to local farms to support sustainable agriculture and reduce waste.
  • Optimised CIP system: Dedicated tanks are reserved for holding cleaning chemicals as part of our clean-in-place (CIP) system, allowing us to reuse chemicals and reduce our overall consumption and disposal of these substances.

Eco-Conscious Operations

Continuously optimising our brewing processes to reduce water and energy consumption.

Exploring opportunities to further integrate renewable energy and sustainable practices into our operations.

Our Goals

  • Innovation: Build on our collaboration with John Moores University to set industry benchmarks for sustainable brewing.
  • Efficiency: Maximise the use of recyclable or biodegradable materials as well as local and sustainable suppliers throughout our supply chain.
  • Community Impact: Strengthen our partnerships with local farms and local independent businesses to promote environmental sustainability.

Commitment to Action

At Colbier Brewery, sustainability is not just a policy but a daily practice. We pledge to continually monitor, evaluate, and improve our efforts to ensure that they align with our environmental values and the expectations of our customers and community.

Crafting a Greener Future

By combining traditional brewing craftsmanship with modern sustainability methods, Colbier Brewery aims to deliver not only great beer but also a meaningful contribution to environmental responsibility
